Thoughts on Sandboxing

Post by George Regateiro »

I have a couple scenarios where I think sandboxing might be helpful within our model and some future projects. I did not see a general sandbox discussion so I thought I would throw it out there.

What are the thoughts from people that have used sandboxes in a large scale environment.

My main concerns looking at it are

1) Users tend to not clean up after themselves so I can see the amount of sandboxes growing out of control (much like private views just tend to grow in number)

2) Has the committing back been something that your users have readily taken to or has this been a point of confusion and support.

3) We are a process heavy environment. I know I can have the processes account for the sandboxes but does it actually work well in reality?

Any other thoughts on the current state of the sandbox implementation as it stands today would be great.

Hi George, regarding 1), have you taken a look at the TI function "ServerSandboxesDelete"? Looks like a handy way for an admin to clean up old, or otherwise defunct, sandboxes.
