9.4 - Drill in a slice
9.4 - Drill in a slice
When we drill in a excel slice, we end up in a new excel file and a active form, is there a setting to have a drill trough a new excel file in a slice (instead of a active form) ?

Re: 9.4 - Drill in a slice
When you drill from Excel you always end up in a new Excel workbook.
As of 9.4 TM1 now drills to an active form rather than a static slice (with no formatting). This is actually a huge improvement as there is (some) formatting and drill up/down ability on rows. Why would you want to drill to a static slice rather than active form?

Hi Scott,
We have a Excel file with custom VBA code, when the users drill trough, he can run a macro for doing custom action into this dril trough view. So for migrating i would like to have the same behavior as before ...
Secondly i'm my enviroment, Windows 2003 -64 Bit , Office XP English.
The second excel file never opens, instead excel crashes
Drill works perfect in the TM1 architect.

Hi Scott,
I want to clarify what you mean by 'As of 9.4 TM1 now drills to an active form rather than a static slice (with no formatting)'. I slice a cube to an Excel, using 9.4. Then I choose drill but it opens a static sheet. So I wonder what do you mean '9.4 nows drills to an active form'
Thanks
Andre

Re: 9.4 - Drill in a slice
I mean exactly what I said. In 9.4 a drill through executed from within Excel drills to an active form worksheet not a slice worksheet.
Obviously this can only be true where the drill source is a TM1 cube view. If the drill source is relational then the excel output of the drill will be static. Also if the row set for a cube view that is drilled to contains only N elements then this will also be static.
