Ports for multiple Admin Servers on an Admin Host

Post by ViRa »

Hi,

I have TM1 9.5 installed on an Admin Host. I plan to have a parallel setup of TM1 10.1 on the same host. I want to know if both the Admin Servers (9.5 and 10.1) can have the same port numbers. If not, what are the other available port numbers for TM1 10.1 Admin Server?

Thanks,
ViRa

Unless someone else has a workround, since both admin servers sit on port 5495, I don't think this is possible.
In the past I've run the 'other' admin server on a second machine (could be a VM) and pointed the TM1 server to it but that's not ideal.

Take this as a potential workaround, the newer TM1 Admin shall be able to support the older TM1 Server versions.
So, if there is no other option, I would propose to just point all TM1 Server applications to the newest Admin server (e.g. 10.1.1) and turn off the older ones.

Thanks Gabor and David. You are right, we cannot have multiple instances running on same host.
I will perform the upgrade process now.

It's been a while since I've done this but I've run the Admin Host app on an entirely separate box before. All it really does is act as a server lookup tool for Architect, Perspectives, and TM1Web so it is very lightweight. There is no requirement, at least there didn't used to be, that the Admin Host actually be running on the same machine as the TM1 server service. We even ran it on a guy's desktop one time when we were doing development and we had about three different servers going on different laptops and we wanted a central place to get the active server list.

We are taking the upgrade path since we cannot have multiple Admin Servers running on the same machine.
