Can't see CXMD in Architect

Post by jviegas@bi4all.pt »

Hi,

I've installed Cognos Express Planner in a client in December and worked on the CXMD server building some dimensions, cubes and other objects.
Since them nothing was created by the team and a few weeks ago I've tried to get in Cognos Express Architect and I couldn't see the CXMD server.

I can see "Servers" but with nothing beneath it (where usually is the CXMD server to double click and login).

My questions are : What might be the issue so that the CXMD doesn't appear and is there something I can do to rebuild the server and try to recover some work done "file by file" copying them to the CXMD folder ?.

thanks in advance,

Jorge

Have you tried starting the service? (check to see if it is running, assuming its not check the logs to see if you can work out why it stopped)

Hi declanr,

Thanks for the answer.

The first time I got in the server the CXMD service was stopped (and I can't know why because of the time passed since december).
But even after starting the service I can see it.

Have you checked the tm1server log file to see if it is starting correctly?

Hi declanr,

At the moment I'm without access to the client but I'm going to ask the team to send me the log and check if the service starts properly.

Declanr,

Finally I was able to log through remote to my client and checked the log:

TM1TransactionLog:ProcessTransactionLog:Bad transaction log record, line number 1.
TM1.Server Server Terminated

I've checked the tm1 cfg file in cxmd and the path seems to be ok and nobody change information in the cxmd server.

I'm clueless on this on.

Thanks

Delete the log files and then restart the service.

EDIT - For clarity I think it's just tm1s.log you will need to delete. In TM1 I would get rid of the lot but from your posts I gather that you probably just use express as it installs "out of the box" which means the logging directory would also contain logs for various other CX things and I'm not 100% sure what effect deleting them would have on your system.

Again the same error (tm1server.log) I've deleted the but I've noticed something in the log:

Client Message Port does not accept tm1top connections

Do you mean that you delete tm1server.log? It is tm1s.log that holds the transactions which are giving you the error.... did you try deleting tm1s.log?

Also worth googling your error code... I didn't do this initially as I assumed that you would have checked first:

Declanr,

Deleted all the log after I was there in person and restarted the service (a measure a bit more extreme from your post but controled since nothing should have been changed after my presence there).

Don't ask me why but its solved.

Thanks for all the time, ideas and quick answering
