Button to 'show all elements' missing

Post by JamiseBondi »

We are a team of developers and one of us this morning has discovered that they don't have access to the button that allows you to show all elements, see screenshot below:

We logon to a server 2008 terminal services server (remote desktop) as we are remote to the client. In my colleagues windows profile, whether he uses perspectives or architect he can't see this button to show all elements. We're using TM1 authentication so no integrated login. If I use his windows profile and login to a TM1 server as myself I also can't see this button in the toolbar.

If I login to windows as myself and they login to TM1 as my colleague, he can see the button.
So, it appears that it's only his windows profile that is preventing him from seeing/hiding the button. When we're in a different windows profile, then no matter who we login to TM1 as we can see the button.

Has anyone come across this at all? Does it require an unregister and reregister of an object from the command line? We've had windows updates break perspectives in the past and had to re-register this object
regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mscomctl.ocx

Any ideas? thanks.

I suspect the problem is caused by tm1p.ini. Try deleting the tm1p.ini for the windows account that's having this problem. Since this is in terminal server environment, if roaming profile is used, check under the roaming profile. TM1 will re-create this file when started, however, you will need to establish the admin host + other options again.

I have not seen this specific issue, but I have seen similar issues when using terminal services. Our solution was more akin to using a sledgehammer for a delicate operation as we just deleted the entire windows profile. When logging on again, a new profile is created and all essential components could be copied across. The downside is that I never got to fully establish the root cause of the issue.

In addition to the answer that you already have, I seem to recall that TM1 picks up the tm1p.ini file from 'default user' profile. You might want to make sure that the TM1P.ini file there will work by replicating it in another profile before you create any new profiles. I have previously set specific flags in the TM1P.ini file so that I only saw 'cubes' and 'application' in perspectives so that I could trace the source of the 'default TM1P.ini' file.
