Hi Everyone
I know that Tm1 is not officially supported on Windows 8.
Question - has anyone tried it, and does it seem ok?
Reason I ask, is because I need a new laptop, and all new laptops have windows 8. I am a developer, and need to run Tm1 on my laptop for demos, and occasional off line development.
Uninstalling Windows 8 and re-installing windows 7 will be a huge headache!
Many thanks
Chris

Unlikely since it's only been out for a few days. Why don't you give it a try and report back to the forum.chewza wrote:Question - has anyone tried it, and does it seem ok?

Re: Tm1 with Windows 8
I've just run up our standard demo using TM10.1.1 and Architect under Windows 8. No glaring issues so far.
I installed TM1 10 X86 client using the standard install routine - seemed the same as normal. For the server I used the time honoured 'copy bin' technique, albeit the bin folder is full of a lot of irrelevant stuff now.
And - I'm runnning it an a VM - do you think I'm completely mad? (On 2nd thoughts, don't answer that question

David, any chance you can enlighten me and anyone else who is interested in the 'copy bin' technique for the server.
I am presuming you just copied the BIN folder from another installation onto your server in the relevant location?

Re: Tm1 with Windows 8
Exactly.
It's a technique which has been around for a while. Not (of course) supported by IBM, and (also of course) the newer features quite often don't work. Still rather useful. We keep a set of bin folders from various versions in our library so we can test stuff without uninstalling and reinstalling.

Re: Tm1 with Windows 8
Just wondering if there is any updates on this I couldn't install Cognos Express on my windows 8 laptop so went back to win 7 however my CFO would like a tablet device.
It would be good if we could give him a surface if this worked with Xcelerator.

Re: Tm1 with Windows 8
I installed Cognos TM1 10.1.1 along with Cognos BI 10.2 on Windows 8. TM1 works fine. However, I observed that Cognos Connection does not show options for all the studios (especially Cognos RS). So, you may not be able to create reports off of your TM1 cube.
