Rollup Button failing?
We have an unusual bug with TM1 Perspectives 10.1.1 right now where going into a dimension, selecting some elements and pressing Rollup doesn't do anything. The button depresses but the user isn't taken back to the cube viewer. Instead, clicking the button multiple times will finally take the user back into the cube viewer but the rollup is empty. Going back into the dimension editor will then allow someone to recreate the rollup but the user has to start over again. As usual, IBM Support has no idea what's going on. Anybody else seen this occur?

Re: Rollup Button failing?
It seems the rollup is not as stable as it was with 9.5.2.
After upgrade to 10.1.1 I am faced with another issue, rollup works in grid dim of Server Explorer (Excel 2010), moving a dim with rollup element from grid to header causes TM1 Server crash.
Unfortunately this somehow depends on the datamodel, I have multiple instances running different models and not all of them show this behavior.

You may have been hit by a regression of a known software defect fixed in TM1 9.5.2, see the APAR 26138:Gabor wrote:It seems the rollup is not as stable as it was with 9.5.2.

Or you may have run into the open software defect logged as APAR PM77921:

PM77921: TM1 SERVER CRASH WHEN CREATING PERSONAL ROLLUP
Error description
Customer reports that the TM1 server is crashing when personal rollups are created. She is able to manually build views based on the same elements used in the custom rollup with no issues at all. She can create a custom rollup at the top consolidation of the dimension (All Employees) but a rollup consisting of any other element(s) fails.
When you have been hit by the open software defect logged as APAR PM77921 contact IBM Cognos TM1 Support to check if a hotfix exists for the version of the TM1 server software you are using, which includes a hotsite resolving the software defect.

Re: Rollup Button failing?
# 2 sounds very similar to my problem, I will ask the support, if a fix is available.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Rollup Button failing?
Yuk and dammit! There go our plans for upgrading prod to 10.1.1 ....
I just tested with 10.1.1 server and 9.5.203 client and I can confirm that this is definitely a regression bug and easy to replicate
1. create UDC rollup in a view on row or column dimension
2. drag dimension with UDC as title dimension
3. server crash
last line of tm1server.log is
<thread> [<recordset>] ERROR <timedatestamp> TM1.Dimension E2) Dimension file "}ROLLUP_ELEM_000.dim" not found or file error.
Dear IBM - This is a real big miss. UDCs did have a reputation for being unstable and causing crashes but things have been good and stable for a few versions now, like since 9.5.1 or 9.4. UDCs is a feature that I can't take away from users but with a bug that can cause a server crash without warning at any time there is no way that 10.1.1 is acceptable for a production environment.

Re: Rollup Button failing?
I was told 10.1.1 HF4 solves the problem.

Re: Rollup Button failing?
Me too, however I looked at the testcase.boulder.ibm ftp/https site and couldn't see any 10.1.1 HF4 to download. Were you told when this might be available?Gabor wrote:I was told 10.1.1 HF4 solves the problem.

Re: Rollup Button failing?
There are the HF5 files, e.g. "up_plananalytics_winx64h_10.1.7000.528_ml.tar.gz" for the TM1 10.1.1 Win64. It includes HF2 ... HF5 updates.

Re: Rollup Button failing?
Aside from the impervious to logic file names why for the love of god did IBM feel the necessity to include a IBM installstream installer with the hotfix? It's a hotfix for goodness sake, hot fixes have always been loose file upgrades in the past (which is entirely appropriate I might add, why did it have to change?) Gone is the good old days of applying a hot fix in a matter of seconds and now I may as well be watching grass grow as the installation progress counter inch towards its 124 components (93 of 124 btw and that has taken a good 15 minutes, ... now 99 of 124 at 25 minutes and counting .... now STILL 99 of 124 at 35 minutes and counting, ... finished at 36 minutes).Gabor wrote:There are the HF5 files, e.g. "up_plananalytics_winx64h_10.1.7000.528_ml.tar.gz" for the TM1 10.1.1 Win64. Edit: And now several hours later and having installed the HF on another server I can think of another very good reason why the loose file upgrades were superior, not only because it was a lot quicker but you actually got to choose the components to apply. All I really wanted was the server patch but the HF installer does a reinstall of all components so hello to an extra joyous few minutes reconfiguring the web.config files.
