Cognos Express and Server 2008 R2

Post by Stephan »

Environment:
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
- Office 2007 SP1
- Cognos Express 9.5
- IE 8 and Firefox 6
Problem:
- My install has no problems.
- At the end of the installation after clicking, Finish Launch Express Manager i receivce this message:

An error has occurred

Loading runtime handler class: com.ibm.cognos.express.module.xcelerator.XceleratorRuntimeHandler

- When I click OK, nothing happens.
- When I refresh the page, I receive this message:

An error has occurred

Cognos Express is already initialized.

Have anyone encountered this before?

Might be your Java version - go to Sun/Oracle's site and update with the latest would be the first thing I would try.

Also IIRC we had to fiddle round with 32bit and 64bit versions to get this to work. Cant remember more than that tho.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately none of this worked.

I got this from someone:

When calling a report trigger from a Web service task, the following error message may appear:
This problem is related to the replacement of the Sun Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) by IBM Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in this release of IBM® Cognos® Express®.
To avoid this problem, modify the bootstrap_win32.xml file in the install_location\bin directory by adding the following line of code for the spawn element under <process name="catalina"> :
<param condName="${java_vendor}" condValue="IBM">-Xss512k</param>

tried this as well, but still no success.
Any other ideas?

Very weird,
Have you installed .net framework on your server also added the server components for it and iis?

If So I would try installing it on another server, failing that download the install files from IBM again.

Has TM1 or an earlier version of Cognos ever been installed on this server? If so, you may need to remove any traces from the registry...
