Hi,
We are installing TM1 9.5.2 in one of our servers, right now we don't have excel installed on this server. Is this mandatory to have excel/any excel related components installed on server before we install TM1 9.5.2 ? We have .Net Framework components are already installed in the server.
Our Server Administrator mentioned that he will be installing excel in the coming week, BTW we also have TM1 applications already built in one of local machine and we would like to move the code and data to this server with out excel.
Is this going to be a problem, please help me in understanding.
Thanks,
Santosh

Hi,
I have found below link in IBM Website, and they mentioned excel is required for Architect/Perspective and I know that these are client components.
Link: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocente ... ysreq.html
Is this mandatory to have the excel if we would like to install Server Components alone. Please suggest..
Thanks,
Santosh

Technically you don't need excel on the app server. And if you only need architect without the ability to publish websheets to the web you can probably get away without it. Im not 100% sure that exel is required to publish to TM1Web from architect but I believe it is.
If you use perspectives you need excel.
If you are going to install the web server components then youll want to install excel. However there is a way to install the web components without excel.
The instructions for this are in the TM1 Ops Guide and TM1 Install Guide. It also talks a little bit about the limitations of not having excel components on the web server.
Basically you can't use excel 2007 files and the output may vary greatly.
On a side note, if you install excel on the web server and your IT department wants to uncheck everything except excel during the install then make sure they also include "Visual Basic For Applications". We missed this originally as I assumed the install had this. It took forever to figure out they unchecked it during the install.

Thanks for the response. It really helps.
As of now we are not using TM1 Web and also as per the plan we will be installing Perspecitve after excel installation. To validate the functionality I think we can connect the server from local and test whether the application is working or not.
Thanks
