Hi there,
I am working on my first TM1 Proof of Concept model and as there is currently only one demo user, I would like to find out more about what happens when two users try to update the same thing.
I have looked through the TM1 manuals and searched this forum, and have info on User Security and Data Reservation, but if for example I didn't implement this and just had three or four users with full write access - what actually happens if two people try to input data into the same cell in the same cube at the same time? Does TM1 lock the cube, the cell, both, neither??
Thanks very much
Steve

Re: Cell sharing / version control advice
A lock is placed on the cube when being updated but it will only last a millisecond or so, maybe longer, depending on how much data is being updated. The chances that two or more people will try and update a cube AT THE EXACT SAME SPLIT SECOND is infinitesimal. The bottom line is last person in wins when no security is present.

Re: Cell sharing / version control advice
OK thanks that's useful - answers the question and also sounds like security will be useful to lock down budget versions etc.
Thanks
