Websheet Portability !!!

Post by pmathur »

Hi Everyone,

We have a small requirement regarding websheet portability. The scenario is : we are forecasting the data based on various sessions, for example "Session A" will forecast 12 QTRs of data, "Session B" will forecast 6 QTRs of data and so on.

Based on user roles and requirements we have designed number of websheets. Suppose a websheet has been designed incorporating "Session A", so for any forecasted measure element, say "Amount" we will be going to have 12 columns corresponding to each forecasted QTR as shown below .

Now the problem arises when user choose difffernet Session from the dimension filter area in websheet, say he choose "Session B", which will use 6 different QTRs for forecasting. In this case websheet will displays the title header(for QTR) which was used in initial stage for building this websheet, not the new one with new QTRs.

So do we have any way by which we can make websheets portable for such a scenarios? So that when user choose different Sessions, he can only be able to see the QTRs specific to that Session, in other terms column header and number of columns which got populated in websheet could become dynamic.

Thanks for your time and corporation in advance.

Regards,
Priyank.

Suppose if you already have the 3 different websheets created for each session you could attach a hyperlink to the title element that when selected moves the user to the relevant sheet.

If hyperlinks are used well you can generally make a user unaware that they are moving between sheets.

But based on your request, possibly the best option would be to create the sheet with the full 12 quarters worth of columns in an active form and then use conditional formatting to make the column invisible (e.g. font and background the same colour) dependent on what is selected in your title element.
