TM1 9.5.2 server and client machines with 9.5.1

Post by guru1988fortm1 »

Hi,

i am using TM1 newly so please help me on my doubts

we have our TM1 server that has TM1 9.5.2 version (it was migrated from 9.5.1 to 9.5.2)'

We have our client machines with TM1 9.5.1 version and it is working fine

All the client machines (with 9.5.1) can access the 9.5.2 server without errors or any issues

So it is necessary for the client machies also to have the 9.5.2 installed or it is fine only the server needs to be in 9.5.2

i dont know whether it is right, please let me know

regards

It is my experience that clients will have problems accessing a server where the server version is greater than version installed on the client machine.

i.e. A user accessing a 9.5.2 server will not be able to connect using a 9.5.1 client.

I would recommend keeping the versions in sync.

For me it depends on the gap between the versions. The smaller the gap the fewer the problems, but I would as mentioned keep clients and servers in sync as that is the client version used for primary testing during development of the server software.

I would also recommend keeping server and client versions in sync as a general rule, but the rest of what you have said above is categorically incorrect. In fact it is the opposite, it is impossible to connect a newer client to an older server. Having a newer version on the server and an older version on the client is totally OK and works just fine. I have seen 8.4 clients working with a 9.5.2 server and all functions as normal (except for the newer features not there in the old client).

The only things that would prohibit older client from connecting to newer server would be
- security mode used on server not supported by the older client
- CientVersionMinimum config parameter set higher than client
- UseSSL parameter where the older client doesn't support SSL
... there could well be more but they were the ones that came to mind.

To answer the OP's question there should be no issues mixing 9.5.1 client and 9.5.2 server. The main reason to force a client upgrade would be users switching to Office 2010.

In my experience there are no issues using 9.5.1 clients with a 9.5.2 server.

Hi All,

Thanks for your reply

So to conclude, let me recommend my users to have 9.5.2 clients

But is there any patch or something to upgrade the clients or it is necessary to uninstall 9.5.1 and install the 9.5.2 clients everywhere
