Installing Xcelerator without CX?

Post by Ganos Lal »

Hello

Because of our Service Partner we have to use Cognos Express instead of TM1.
But we don't use any parts of CX Enivronment but Xcelerator, so the fact that the Informix Service (Oninit) use nearly about 1Gb Ram is not very amusing.

So we tried to install just the Xcelerator without the whole Cognos Express Enivronment, but we wasn't successful so far.
Did anyone know if this is possible and what we have to do for this constellation?

Thanks so far

I suggest you try switching to native TM1 security (IntegratedSecurityMode = 1), and commenting out all the CAM-related c&@p, then stopping the 'IBM Cognos Express' service and also the two Informix services. This ought to disconnect Excelerator from the bloated, irrelevant CX stack. Also make sure AllowImportCAMClients is set to F in tm1p.ini .
We've had to do this because we find that the Informix services keep falling over and IBM have not, so far, come up with a fix. (I'd like to know if this is a common experience, btw.)
You probably won't be able to raise support issues around this setup.

The TM1 security is already set. The MainProblem is that Informix and IBM Cognos Express (java.exe & oninit.exe) uses in summary 1,6GB of Ram, and 1,6Gb of something nobody uses is a lot too much.
Yes this is our current work around, but with the problem to fix the Buttons for Excel Xcelerator and architect, because of an connect Error when the IBM Cognos Express Service is shut down.
End of time.
