reappearing users

Post by cdhodge2002 »

I have a weird instance where users are reappearing in an environment when they log into contributor.

So for Example.

I have user called Betty10. This user was a development user, when the QA environment was create we just copied over development data directory to QA and then replace the users with QA users and deleted all the dev users. So right now Dev has a user "Betty10" and QA has a user called "QA_Betty10". However now when I go to log into the system as Betty10 I can see the QA and Dev Contributor apps and the Betty10 user shows back up in the QA environment. Has anybody ever seen this before?

Hi,

When you say you "go to log into the system as Betty10 I can see the QA and Dev Contributor apps " do you mean you can see both TM1 instances (environments)? If they are on the same Admin Host this is expected behaviour.

When you created the QA environment, did you repoint the config file to the new data directory? How did you delete the users?

The TM1 environments are on the same admin host but are running on different TM1 servers.

There are different config files for all the environments. To delete the items I went into the clients and groups screen and deleted the client. I then confirmed by going back into the screen to confirm that is was deleted and looked at the }clients dimension to confirm.

If you are using Contributor, are you also using CAM authentication?

If so, isn't this expected behaviour? (Sorry, not working on a CAM Authenticated server at the moment so can't check.) From memory, when a user logs in, TM1 will authenticate the user against CAM (possibly from there back to Active Directory), and if the user is valid they get added to }Clients and their }Groups assignments are refreshed from CAM/AD at the same time. It is up to you to make sure that invalid users are not granted any access to valid TM1 }Groups in your CAM/AD environment.

TM1 }Groups on the other hand, have to be added manually, it is only the user to group assignment that gets updated, not the list of }Groups themselves.
