Dynamic Subset - Clarification of behaviour

I am currently using a dynamic subset in TM1 to control the relationship between 2 dimensions in a cube e.g. which Departments a Cost Cenre can plan/forecast against.
I am wanting to use this in TM1 Contributor, so that when a user opens an element in the Approval hierarchy they can only "forecast" against the appropriate Departments (for example).

It appears that a dynamic subset will only "refresh" when it is used as a row/column in a cube view i.e. it does not update when it in Context filter area. Is this correct?

I have had problems with this in the past. You can refresh the subset using TI.
