Unable to insert more Dependant Sections in Active Form

Post by Guy In Suit »

I;m having trouble building a large active form with many dependant sections. I can create the dependant sections one after the other as described in the manual - but eventually it just stops working - sometimes after a few sections, sometimes after a dozen or so.

The tool creates a new 'TM1RPTVIEW' formula in the proper place with the proper value and a new named range for the report as I specify - but the 'TM1RPTROW' formula returns a blank cell. I tried deleting the TM1RPTVIEW, TM1RPTROW and associated named ranges and inserting the next section again, but still to no avail. Am I doing something wrong?

Or is being able to insert a dependant section luck-based?

If you have a dozen active form sections on a single worksheet then there is more than likely something seriously wrong with your report design. What are you actually trying to achieve?

I need empty space between sections of the report to insert summary information and free-form comments...

Any suggestions welcome.

I beg to differ. I have successfully built worksheets with 8 or so (ok, not exactly a dozen) active forms on one sheet and they work like a charm. I can easily imagine cases where this is useful (sometimes you just need the extra breaks for something). Provided you can get this design to work, that is.

Given TM1's history of somewhat "less than robust" capabilities around report automation, I think you are taking a risk introducing more than two or three active form sections into a report. I know it "should" work but I like to err on the side of caution when it comes to asking for something like this in TM1, especially when it involves the TM1 client.
