undeploying and redeploying the pmpsvc file to apachetomcat
Hi,
For the configuration of the Contributor, i initially deployed the pmpsvc.war file into apache tomcat and i was able to open my contributor
but later because of some confusions, i undeployed it and deleted the following files as mentioned in the IBM Cognos Tm1 guide
i am using cognos tm1 9.5.2 with cognos 10 BI security
(
Verify that the following TM1 Contributor Web application folders and files have been deleted. Stop Tomcat and delete these files if they still exist.
Folders:
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\webapps\pmpsvc
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\pmpsvc
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\work\Catalina\localhost\pmpsvc
Files:
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\pmpsvc.war
If you are using IBM Cognos 8 security with TM1 Contributor, these items are located in the following locations:
C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\webapps\pmpsvc
C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\tomcat4.1.27\work\Standalone\localhost\pmpsvc )
When i tried to delete these folder, i got an error saying that 'tm1ja64.dll' in this path C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\webapps\pmpsvc cannot be deleted as it said "It is still open in jave.exe"
How can i delete this file
Also is it necessary to uninstall the contributor again as i have undeployed it
Kindly provide me a solution for my issue as soon as possible
Thank You in Advance
Regards
Guru

I could only guess that the C8 service is still running and is accessing the files???

You don't need to uninstall contributor, just go through the steps that you originally went through to deploy the .war file in the first place.

Thank you very much for your replies
jim was correct , i was doing this with my cognos BI service running so i was not able to delete that tm1ja64.dll file so now its working fine.
As Andy said i deployed the war file again without reinstalling the tm1 contributor
now i am able to open my tm1 contributor administrator but i am not able to open my tm1 web client for contributor
it says error in loading page,
This is the URL i used to open my webclient for contributor
http://172.25.9.218/TM1Web/contributor.aspx
172.25.9.218 is the server name where i have installed my contributor and also i have mentioned these in the settings in the tm1 contributor administrator
Is there any other things i need to ensure for my configuration of the tm1 web client
Kindly give me a solution for this issue as soon as possible
Thanks In Advance

Re: undeploying and redeploying the pmpsvc file to apachetom
Do you still have your IIS virtual folder in place? Have you checked the permissions for the folder? Is the APSX file in the directory? If the virtual directory is in IIS is it using the right version of .net??

Re: undeploying and redeploying the pmpsvc file to apachetom
Within IIS there should be a virtual folder for TM1 Web called TM1Web. The ASPX file should be within this directory.jim wood wrote:Do you still have your IIS virtual folder in place?
If you have the virtual directory you need to make sure that annoynmous browsing is enabled and that script execution is enabled as well. (You can find this in ISS)jim wood wrote:Have you checked the permissions for the folder? Is the APSX file in the directory?
I would check the application pool for the virtual folder. If it is set to the default pool it should be ok as long as you haven't changed the default application pool. (This should be set to 2.5)jim wood wrote:If the virtual directory is in IIS is it using the right version of .net??
I hope that helps,
Jim.

Re: undeploying and redeploying the pmpsvc file to apachetom
hi Jim,
Thanks a lot for your reply
i have checked those things, they are fine,
i think i am wrong at the concept of webserver
the path to open the tm1 contributor for web client is http://webserver/tm1web/contributor.aspx
what is the 'webserver' in this url mean
i am trying to open it with the ip of the machine where i have installed it say, 172.2.9.218, ie ,http://172.25.9.218/tm1web./contributor.aspx
is this correct or the webserver denotes IIS or tomcat.
Kindly give me a solution
Thank You In Advance

Re: undeploying and redeploying the pmpsvc file to apachetom
Hi Guru,
The contributor cube view display page uses IIS not tomcat. So you are right to try what you did. The only thing to keep in mind is the port number you are running IIS on. Tomcat defaults to 8080 and you have to specify this when connecting to it. IIS by default uses the internet port 80, this is why when connecting to IIS you don't have to specify a port. So If you haven't changed the IIS port your link should be as you said http://172.25.9.218/Tm1Web/contributor.aspx. The only thing I would say is that you might be better using a full DNS name rather than an IP address,
Jim.

Re: undeploying and redeploying the pmpsvc file to apachetom
TM1 Contributor consists of two different components:Gurumadheshwaran wrote:is this correct or the webserver denotes IIS or tomcat
- The TM1 Contributor Thin Client, being a customized version of the TM1 Web Cube Viewer, thus driven by the IIS webserver.
- TM1 TM1 Contributor Administration and Workflow Client, being a Java application, thus driven by a Java Application Server like Apache Tomcat.
For detailed information see the manual TM1 9.5.2 Installation Guide:

Architecture
IBM Cognos TM1 Contributor has a multi-tiered architecture that consists of three tiers: Web clients, Web application servers, and data.
Tier 1: Web Clients
The Web clients tier contains all the Web-based user interfaces for IBM Cognos TM1 Contributor. These user interfaces are used by TM1 Contributor end-users, administrators and planning application developers.
* The Portal, Workflow and Administration clients are supported by a Java-based Web application server, such as IBM WebSphere.
* The TM1 Contributor client is supported by a Web server running Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
