Cam Namespace ID

Post by karan2345 »

Hi,

I am using Cognos 8 authentication for my TM1.( I have put the value for Integrated Security = 5.)

I am trying to do replication, but it is asking me for a namespace name. Where do i find the namespace id, I am unable to do so :(

Someone please help me out on this.

Thank You.

I'm no expert on this but I think you can find out the name space in the security cubes. Users logging in from within Cognos BI look like the following:

example\admin

I think the example is the name of the name space. If memory serves the name space is set when you create the login pool within BI. Again I'm not 100% on this one,

Jim.

I right clicked on the server and selected the who am i option and it was showing Cognos Express\Administrator

So is the namespace name "Cognos Express" ?

However even after entering this namespace, nothing happens it just creates a replication with the name of the source server and nothing happens after that.

It creates a replication server with the same name as the source server. But nothing happens when i double click it.

I came across this when trying to get logged into TM1 top using cognos express. Can't remember quite what worked, but I played around with lower case, upper case, spaces, no spaces and so on. One of them worked. Try CognosExpress\Administrator, Cognos\Administrator, Express\Administrator, cognos express\Administrator

Hi

You can also find the ID in IBM Cognos Configuration:
1. Start C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Cognos Express\bin\cogconfigw.exe (if using Cognos Express)
2. Go to Security / Authentication
3. Click on Cognos Express and you will get the ID, which is, as Martin said, CognosExpress.

p.s. About replication and Cognos Express, you should be aware of this (it might not apply to you):

Interesting that they would leave replication in considering it's a violation of the license agreement to use it. You can't have more than one TM1 service with CX and I can't imagine any customer buying multiple CX licesnes (which would be the only way you could use replication). Must have been too hard to take it out of the TM1 code base when they created CX.
