Rep & Sync Deleting Cube Security
Im running a rep and sync and noticing that the control cube for cube level security is getting wiped for the replicated cube. Im forced to reapply cube security each time I run this. Is this normal or is there a way to keep it from doing this?

Are you replicating that cube? Does the planet have write access to it on the star? In general you probably should not be replicating control cubes-- I've had problems with this in the past.

Re: Rep & Sync Deleting Cube Security
Thanks for the reply,
The cube Im replicating is not the control cube. The control cube in the target server is getting the security wiped for the cube that I am replicating. It's like the cube is being deleted so the control dimension with cube names in it drops the cube and then has it re added by the rep and sync process. Unfortunately that means the security settings for the cube are wiped.

Re: Rep & Sync Deleting Cube Security
First, are you SURE you're not replicating the control cube? You can check in }CubeProperties on the planet (or via logs).
Which cube is getting wiped, }CubeSecurity? So all cube security for all cubes is getting lost/changed? Or is it attribute security for one/all of the dims in the cube you're replicating? I could read your second comment either way. How are you executing the rep? Chore or GUI?

Re: Rep & Sync Deleting Cube Security
Im executing through Architect. I have double clicked the cube I want replicated and then clicked ok. When it finishes cube security is wiped for the replicated cube on the target server.

Ah, ok, then what you thought is exactly what is happening. When you double-click the cube under "Replication" and go through the dialog, you are recreating the replication which blows away the local copy of the cube and recreates it (along with any related security or other customizations). If you just want to resynchronize, you should right-click on the server name under Replication and select "Synchronize All Data."PlanningDev wrote:Im executing through Architect. Re: Rep & Sync Deleting Cube Security
I figured as much. So once I setup the replication options I assume I could also right click on the cube and click synchronize as well?

Yes. I'm not sure if it's possible to synchronize a single cube or if they'll all get done. You can also add it to a chore.PlanningDev wrote:So once I setup the replication options I assume I could also right click on the cube and click synchronize as well?
