managing tm1p.ini with two TM1 applications

Post by Catherine »

Hi,

We currently have some users using a TM1 application under Citrix, with TM1 version 9.4.1.
We are going to implement a new TM1 application, with TM1 version 9.5.2. The access to the new application is done through different Citrix servers. So it is not a problem to have two different versions.
(Target is to have both applications in 9.5.2, but much time is required to do the migration and ensure that everything works fine ;) )

Furthermore, we want users from application 1 not to see instances from application 2, and vice versa. Some users are common to both applications, some are not.

Both applications TM1 Perspectives use the same path to TM1P.ini file. But that it is a problem for us, given that we need to specify different admin hosts.

Do you know if it is possible to specify a different path for TM1p.ini to TM1 Perspectives?
Any other idea to solve our problem?

Thank you !

As far as I know the location of the TM1P.INI file is fixed. It is held within the users app folders. You could try using different users on the same machine or you could try doing something with their user profile??? I'm not export on user profiles so apologies if this sounds like a shot in the dark,

If each application's client interface is hosted on a separate citrix server then the users profiles will also be on separate machines and therefore using separate TM1p.ini files. In which case no problem.

If they are using roaming profiles to access different servers in the same farm I think they will still have an issue. They could go to using local profiles (rather then roaming) but I am not sure how big of a change that would be (been a while since I did a citrix install).

True I wasn't thinking about roaming profiles. Probably because where I'm working we use user profiles which are local even to the machine as opposed to the farm I am pretty sure
