Hi,
I have three questions regarding the Transaction Log.
1. Is there a way for the Transaction Logs to display the alias of Dimension Elements in the Key N columns?
2. Is there a way to filter the Transaction Log by more than one element within a dimension.
By default when you open the transaction log (and select a cube to view) the Transaction Log does not filter by dimension elements. If you click ok, the Transaction Log will show all modified cells within that cube for all dimension elements. When you choose to filter to a single element you cannot re-select the default all. You have to close the Transaction Log and re-open.
3. Is there a way to re-select all the dimension elements after you have only selected one without closing and re-opening the Transaction Log.
Regards,
Magnus

Re: Questions regarding the Transaction Log
No. All the log files dialog is doing is reading the log text files, which use the base name. If it had to look up an alias as well it would be much slower.mags88 wrote:I have three questions regarding the Transaction Log.

No. Personally I only use the transaction logs for simple queries. I load the logs into Access databases for when I need to do more complex queries. This gives you the option of loading them using the alias, though I have to admit that I don't. Alternatively you could load the aliases into another table and do a join, though the gods know that Access is slow enough as it is and that wouldn't help.mags88 wrote:2. You can try the [Edit Query] button, then re-select the cube. Granted it's not ideal as you lose all of your other selections, but it's the closest thing available. I don't believe that it's possible to have it reset to "All" without doing that.mags88 wrote:3. "To them, equipment failure is terrifying. To me, it’s 'Tuesday.' "
