9.5.2 Slice Error
One of our users get the following error message when a slice or a snapshot is taken from a private view:
I have tried to create the same view and I don't have any issue generating the slice or snapshot. Has anyone experience this issue in TM1 9.5.2? Thanks!-

Re: 9.5.2 Slice Error
Two things to consider:Pappachan wrote:One of our users get the following error message when a slice or a snapshot is taken from a private view:I have tried to create the same view and I don't have any issue generating the slice or snapshot. Has anyone experience this issue in TM1 9.5.2? Thanks!
(a) How are you trying to slice it? If you do a "classic" slice or snapshot, TM1 doesn't have a problem with the elements having that name. If you try to slice to an active form, on the other hand, you'll get that error message if the elements have that kind of name.
(b) Do you and the user have the same security? If not, they might have a different element showing at the start of their rows or columns (as the case may be) than you do.
Though the characters listed (+, - or =) are not ones that I'd be including in element names to be honest, or certainly not at the start of them.

Re: 9.5.2 Slice Error
You don't mention if your user has checked whether the suggested problem is in fact the case? Does the first element begin with a forbidden character? If not, what does it start with? A screenshot of the cube view that they're trying to slice would be helpful.

Re: 9.5.2 Slice Error
Thanks for the responses.
Allan,
a) The user is using the classic slice/snapshot and not the active form one.
b) I have admin access. However, I have another login ID that I keep for testing purposes and under this ID - I gave myself the same security assignment as the user. However, when I generate the view and do a classic slice I have no problem with it. I have the same dimension element as the user. The only difference I can see if that the user has the view saved as private view and I am creating/duplicating the view on the fly. We do not have any dimension elements that start with the forbidden characters but we do have "-" in between the names. I don't think that should be a problem because all users using slice should have this issue when in the same cube. I wonder if there are any issue with the private views in 9.5.2. Also, I wonder if the user's chache has any thing to do with it. Thanks!
Martin,
The first thing that I checked was if there is any element starting with the forbidden characters even though we shouldn't have any. Attached is the screen shot of the view. Thanks!
