CE - Rules Overwriting Data?
My clients just had a situation where rules had briefly overwritten cells which previously had data, no data save was done but the data doesn't come back when the rule is disabled. Does early Cognos Express behave any differently to TM1 9.4 in this way?

Early Cognos Express is powered by TM1 9.4 (or 9.4.1) so will behave the same way.
Have you tried a server restart? It may be that it's cleared from memory, but it should all still be held on disk.

Yep we got it, but it seems gone are the days when values simply reappear when the rule is disabled again, hopefully it's just a one off - I loved that 'feature'.

Re: CE - Rules Overwriting Data?
But, if I want to clear values in area very easily (for testing purposes mostly), I write a rule that puts 0 on the area and I save.
That would then become impossible in your reasoning...

You dont go for the 'Clear' spreading option?
Thats TM1 for ya - a million ways to do anything. I'm pretty sure it used to work the way I previously described.

Somewhere after 9.1 this feature disappeared. Certainly in 9.5 if a rule overwrites data then the data is gone regardless of what subsequently happens to the rule.Kyro wrote:Yep we got it, but it seems gone are the days when values simply reappear when the rule is disabled again, hopefully it's just a one off - I loved that 'feature'.

Say, if I need to erase Actuals scenario data for 2011, I will write a rule and save:Kyro wrote:You dont go for the 'Clear' spreading option?

['Actuals','2011']=0;
After saving, I delete the rule and save again.
Of course only if saving the rules does not take ages
