Cognos Express XCL: Login greyed out

Post by holger_b »

Hi all,

I installed Cognos Express 9.5 on a client's site. Now when they download and open the Excel add-in, the user and password input fields are greyed out - why? Is there an .ini option somewhere to activate user and password input? I know you can have integrated login on/off, but this is somehting else...

Thank you
Holger

*** An hour later: I tried a few things so I can be a little bit more precise: After clicking on "Connect" and selecting a server, a login screen should pop up which only happens in the Excel installation on the server, not on the client (N33): Connection failed).

What did I miss?

... another few hours later: I saw there is a parameter "ClientMessagePortNumber" in tm1s.cfg, we released that port, but no avail, neither with ports 19300, 5498 and 5495. But: When we temproarily deactivated the firewall, everything was fine, so it looks pretty much like we have a firewall issue.

Any suggestions?

Regards
Holger

We solved it! Just in case anyone comes across the same problem: We released ports 19300 to 19310 (which are the ports used by default), and it worked.
