Sharing views within users group

Post by Krish »

Hi Folks,

Could anyone please explain about the detailed steps for how to share the views.

Scenario : One of my user have created some views according to his usage within TM1 perspectives 9.5.1 and it has became private to him. Now he wants to share some of his views to other users and these should have read only access to them.

I really got stuck in this point. Please suggest me.

Kris

You could have found the answer to this by making a quick search on this forum because this question always gets asked every couple of months. The short answer is no, you can't share private views. There are two things you CAN do; 1) if the user is an Admin then they can publish the view as public or 2) you can go to the data directory on the TM1 server and copy the .vuw file from the users private cube folder to the main cube folder and then recycle the TM1 service.

Or if only sharing within a group is needed then the .vue file can be copied to other users' folders only. This will only take a log out and back in of the users for the object to be shared.

There will be no problems as long aas the private view does not contain any private subsets, if it does then the private subset .sub files will need to be copied.

Like Tomok said you should be able to find this be searching for "private view" or similar.

If the user having admin rights to make the public view,

How to restrict for sharing public views to specific users?

That cannot be done. Users have access to all public views defined on cubes they have access to. Copying private views between user folders is probably your best option if you want to meet these requirements.

You can't. Public means Public. Martin Ryan raised this as an enhancement suggestion but there's no certainty that IBM will ever address it.
