Should I go from 9.1.4 to 9.5.1 or 9.5.2???
We don't upgrade often. Have had a long time stable 9.1.4 version of TM1. Finally bit the bullet to move to 9.5.? I was planning on going to 9.5.2 but searching this forum I'm unsure if that is the right version to go to. Any recommendations?
Our TM1 use is relatively simple, few rules, mostly downloaded data from an iSeries mid-range to enable easier report writing. A fair number of tables and users but not complex apps.

I think the standard advice at the moment is to go to 9.5.1 unless you have a burning need for any of the 9.52 new features.

If you don't already know that there's an urgent need to change, then you just answered (the first part of) your own question.carsten wrote:is there an urgent need to change , what are the differences between 9.1.4 and 9.5 ?
The FAQ Thread has a section titled "Main Documentation". Under that you'll find links to the documentation on the IBM site for versions 9.4 and 9.5. Download the New Features Guide for both, and decide whether there's anything that you can't live without.
Unicode and Sandboxes are probably the two headline features respectively.
Well, that and the fact that 9.5 is still on Product Support whereas 9.1.4 went off it at the end of last year, and goes off Service Support at the end of November.

They will works expect for the dynamic slice reports.carsten wrote:When i move from 9.1.4 to 9.5.2

Active Forms
Active Forms let you view and update live TM1 cube data directly in Excel whenever you are connected to the TM1 server on which the cube data resides. Active Forms retain the ability to expand and collapse row dimension consolidations in a TM1 view while allowing you to use native Excel features and functions to create complex reports.
With the introduction of Active Forms, the dynamic slice functionality that was available in previous releases is no longer supported. If you open a worksheet containing a dynamic slice in TM1 9.4 (or later), the slice is rendered as a ’classic’ slice reflecting the state of the slice the last time it was saved. Any formatting applied to the dynamic slice is lost when the slice is opened in TM1 9.4 or later.
Best Regards,
Peter

Re: Should I go from 9.1.4 to 9.5.1 or 9.5.2???
Maybe this thread is getting a little long in the tooth but my 2c. I would have to say that I am cautious about new versions (like many burned too many times in the past) and was initially hesitant over 9.5.2 versus 9.5.1 but have now been on 9.5.2 for 3 months in a reasonably large scale production environment with several hundred users (up to 50 - 60 concurrent) and it has been very stable (that is no crashes or glitches since upgrade) and parallel interaction does what it says on the can and has had HUGE benefits. No more writers queued waiting for someone else to either write or run a report / calculate a view and no more need to design models with split out data entry cubes. I can see no reason why anyone would opt for 9.5.1 over 9.5.2. Aside from the performance benefit there's also the issue of XL2010 compatibility which is going to be more and more relevant.

Re: Should I go from 9.1.4 to 9.5.1 or 9.5.2???
Adding some more information.
I have upgraded from 9.4.1 to 9.5.1 using Excel 2007 and all my Active forms using Conditional Color formatting stopped working in TM1Web. I opened a PMR with IBM and they have done a remote session and i showed them how conditional color filling is not working (by a simple example) when active forms are opened in TM1 Web. Then they could not fix it and asked me to upgrade again to 9.5.2 which fixed this.
Not sure IBM fixed this issue or not!!!
And sorry if this issue is already taken care of.

Thanks for answers. So when I upgrade, normally reports in excel should work without adjusting?

Yes. Unless you have any reports which are "dynamic slices" which would become static.carsten wrote:Thanks for answers. So when I upgrade, normally reports in excel should work without adjusting?
