problem with .rux file.

Post by ryan »

Hi,

I have opened the .rux file with notepad and forgot to uncheck the option - Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. There after rules are not working properly i.e., when I use suppress 'Zero Values' in the view menu, the cells with values are also getting suppressed.

Is there any way to revert back or remove the open with option defalut opening with Notepad?

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

Why would you want to removen this option? RUX files are plain test files so opening with Notepad is a good option!

If you want to edit the rules then you need to do this from within perspectives of architect by double-clicking on the rule icon under the cube tree for the cube in question. Opening the RUX file from windows explorer will not launch TM1 perspectives or architect as TM1 does not make any file extension associations.

It is very unlikely that the file association is causing your problems. The behaviour you're seeing is most likely caused by a feeder problem. So you need to have a look at what you edited in the rules sheet and check whether new or changed rules are fed correctly.

You might also possibly have an issue with your .blb files which tend to be formatting files for your .rux files.

I have seen it in the past when copying .rux files from a backup when a server is down but I forget to remove the .blb files the server can corrupt the rule files as there is a conflict between your .rux and .blb files.

This is generally easy to spot as when you open your rules in perspectives you will get an error in rules formatting or some such message.
