Executive Viewer on TM1 Cubes over WAN
Hi,
I would appreciate if anybody can comment on performance of Executive Viewer (with TM1 cubes) over WAN, especially where it has considerable latency. Is it as chatty as Perspectives or TM1Web?
Regards,

lookup "EV vs. TM1 web deathmatch" on Phil Bichard's BI Hints blog.
Basically because EV extensively pre-caches meta data and the MDX queries for data are (mostly) quite light, the performance is very good compared to Excel or TM1 Web. The gap has probably narrowed a bit since the analysis was done as web performance in 9.5.1 and 9.5.2 is noticeably better than previous versions but I'm sure EV would still be in front comfortably.

@lotsaram, I recall that too. I wonder if anyone has the time (& the chutzpah) to test with BI, both 'current' (8.x) and 'new, improved' (10.1/tm1 9.5.2).
I can't find Phil's blog. Can you post a link?

I could not find "EV vs. TM1 web deathmatch" but I found http://www.bihints.com/tm1web_vs_tm1_se ... deathmatch, which does not talk about EV performance.

@paul, I knew about bihints, but I wasn't aware it was Phil's baby (so to speak
) - it doesn't show on the site.

I'm not sure it is. I've seen a different name associated with bihints - a name I'm not otherwise familiar with. Maybe Phil/BIHints could confirm?

Re: Executive Viewer on TM1 Cubes over WAN
mce: sorry I must have remembered the content of the article wrongly. Still I would expect EV to perform very well compared to say C8 or even C10. The performance gap might have eroded somewhat to Tm1 web though since web performance in 9.5 versions seems much better than it was previously, but a gap is probably still there.
David/Martin: I always assumed Phil had something to do with the site since content from him (the excellent TM1 MDX primer) seems to only be available from that source. Could be an incorect assumption though ...

I'm not sure. bihints seems to deliberately keep a low profile so it could be anyone, including yourself (dun dun dun). But the MDX primer is available from Phil's website which could explain that particular example.

Hi chaps,
I was alerted to this thread by a friend, sorry if I'm a bit late.
Bihints.com is nothing to do with me. It is run by Numa Fabre, an old TM1 colleague of mine. As I had an early Primer I just let him publish it for no particular reason.
That one is not updated. The latest (it's occasionally updated especially when people ask questions) version is always here:

Cheers,
Philip.
