9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 chars
TM1 9.5.2 server explorer crash
In turbo integrator when using a text file data source, attempting to preview a file that contains any record with more than 1021 characters causes server explorer and excel to crash. (i.e. a single row of data in the source file with greater than 1021 characters.)
Attempting to save the TI will also cause a crash.
The count of characters in a row includes any comma field delimiters.
This crash does not occur with earlier versions of server explorer - earlier versions supported much longer records.
Our testing was on Excel 2007 on a Windows 7 client, with the server running on Windows Server 2008 R2.
IBM HAVE NOW ISSUED A FIX PACK FOR THIS ISSUE

Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
I can confirm the same crash using 32bit Windows Server 2003 R2 with XP/Office 2003 on the client. I have just logged it with IBM as fault number 44496 999 866. If anyone gets any joy with IBM please keep this thread updated, its a show stopper for us and was fine in 9.5.1

If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.

Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
News on this is getting worse.
When we run a TI in 9.5.2 that was created in a previous version of TM1 and points to a file with > 1021 characters in a record, it crashes the server. i.e. it is a TI that we would not be able to create in version 9.5.2 as Server Explorer crashes when previewing the file – but as it already exists we can run it – with a server crash being the result.

Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
I can't even get that far.
TI already exists with a saved datasource > 1021 chars. On opening the TI, it crashes explorer.
New TI and point to a datasource > 1021 chars. Fine until you click another tab or preview the source, then explorer crashes.
I got a swift reply from IBM to request the source files. Could only provide the headers due to sensitive data but it'll behave the same anyway. Have been told it's with their development team for review.

Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
Our 2 reports have been merged and the bug confirmed / passed to the engineering team. Had conformation earlier this week that they are aiming for a fix by the 6th May.

The hotfix was released to us for testing but due to our other commitments we have yet to do anything with it.

Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
Paul, did you have to apply the fixes to just the client / server or both in order to sort it? I suspected client side but the way our IT is handled it'll be impossible for us to impliment it any time soon.

Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
The fix for this specific issue is in the client loose files. The other files (server and web) relate to the other fix items included in the fix pack.
Re: 9.5.2 Server Explorer crash: text file records > 1021 c
Hello,
Please advice what hot fix (interim fix) solved this bug?
In the 9.5.2 (CTM1_9_5_2_win32_IF002 and CTM1_9_5_2_win64_IF002) lf002 i see just the tm1web fixes without any bin fixes.
Thank you,
Gabi
