Employee Transfers

Post by dfrench77 »

I am pretty sure that there is a method using either rules or TI to simulate the transfer of employees from one department to another. Can anyone share a method of transferring empl A from Dept1 to Dept2? Here is the requirement: Dept1 manager knows that empl A is transferring from the Dept1 in March of the budget year, so he/she does not pick up empl A's salary from April to the end of the budget year. However, now the TM1 system administrator would like to ensure that empl A salary and expenses for April thru end of year are not being lost. The TM1 sys admin would like to have method of identifying all empls that are being transferred out so that the sys admin can ensure that all empls are being budgeted for by both the transfer from and transfer to department. The TM1 sys admin would like to reconcile the transfers and then execute the transfers moving empl A salary and expense for April thru end of year to Dept2. Any suggestions?

Hello,

I need more clarity around your build to give you a recommendation on how to complete this, however I have seen this completed via both rules and TI. I can't give you code to complete however, I would say that you should speak with the users and try to develop a solution that best fits their needs while empowering them to complete this without your interaction as an administrator.

Just a recommendation.

We do this by treating it as a termination and new hire. I considered a more elaborate/programmatic solution, but this system works fine for us and helps force a little communication between analysts. Getting the forecast right is only part of the work in planning a transfer....

Please read and follow the Request for Assistance Guidelines. It helps us answer your question and saves everyone a lot of time.

The communication is the issue. It is not happening and employees are being missed and left out of the forecast. We are looking for a programmatic solution to assist with the capturing of employee transfers and subsequently moving employees to new departments. I was hoping that someone on the TM1 forum had come across this requirement before and developed a solution to assist with transfering employees between departments.

Thanks for your thoughts...
