By default Cognos Express Xcelerator (aka TM1) uses CAM authentication. This can be disabled from tm1s.cfg to get the good old TM1 authentication.
However we are having problem with the client side TM1p.ini parameters:
AllowImportCAMClients
CognosGatewayURI
Everytime when we removed these parameters and restart the tm1 client, it will re-insert these parameters back. Any clue ? Seems like Xcelerator is forcing all clients to use CAM.

Found that TM1 uses the "All Users" tm1p.ini to override specific user's setting if not specified. It actually hang Excel if I removed the parameters from the ini file. Looks like we are forced to use CAM.

I had the same problem. I tried deleting the Tm1p.ini file to no success.

As soon as you delete it, the next time you start TM1 (Xcelerator), it will create a new one with some values taken from the 'All Users" version of the tm1p.ini.
I tried leaving CognosGatewayURI blank in the 'default' ini but it doesn't work. TM1 doc says that if CAM is not required, we will have to remove this parameter.
Still playing around the 'All Users' ini to see if I can get around it.

An update:
Xcelerator or TM1 9.4 client can actually switch between TM1 authentication or CAM depending on the server. You can get a TM1 9.4 client to connect to a Xcelerator server or vice versa. Which is a good thing as I can basically switch the Xcelerator using TM1 authentication and shutdown all the CAM related services.

Has anyone managed to work around this issue? I am also experiencing the problem and ran out of ideas to fix it.

Hi i had the similar issue, regardless of whatever i did, the tm1p.ini files got overwritten. so i made this file as READ-Only. So the next the when i opened the architect it was not able to overwrite due to read-only mode, so appears to be this is the workaround. So set whatever you want to set in tm1p.ini file and then make it readonly.
