Hi
I'm struggling to input text comments into a string cell in the measure dimension. I've checked the dimension properties and it is definitely set to string, however when we try to input it says "cell is not a number". It is also the last element in the dimension.
I think it is to do with the fact that the measure is across the top i.e. "reserves", "other", "forecast", then "comments" and where it intersects with the elements down the left hand side, i.e. "formula grant change %" and and "formula grant change £". The elements down the left have specific format attributes - so % etc. Looking at it the % format is applying to the whole row, which I don't want it to apply to the comments intersection.
I can't have the comments in the elements on the left hand side as a comment needs to be able to be entered for each change £ etc so needs to be next to the amounts.
Is there a way around this? I've tried to see if there is a "text" format I can apply to the comments element but there isn't.
Hope someone understands this! I've just tried to attach a screen shot but it hasn't worked!

Re: String cell in dimension
Hi,
The dimension with the string measure should be the last dimension in the cube - the the last dimension in the cube determines the cell type (not the last element in a dimension).

Re: String cell in dimension
I did wonder that but the string cell was added after the cube was created so it's not the last dimension in the cube. I've tried to reorder the dimensions in the cube but it keeps saying dimension reorder failed. I also tried recreating the cube with this dimension last but I still get the same message so I'm at a loss!
P - no it's just entry straight into the cube via Web/Perspectives so won't ever be done as part of a process.

Hi,
You can't reorder the dimension if this changes the celltype for some area's - and that's in fact what you're trying to do now.
The only option I'm aware of is a full recreate of the cube with the dimension with the string element as the last dimension in the cube.
