Hello All,
Can any one please explain the difference between TM1 Workflow & TM1 Contributor.
When will we use them individually.
Thanks & Regards,
Radhika

Re: TM1 Workflow Vs TM1 Contributor
TM1 Workflow is eye candy which allows you to update and display who has submitted what, but doesn't actually do any locking.
TM1 Contributor is a fairly 0.9 port of Cognos Planning Contributor into the TM1 engine. Unlike Workflow, it actually locks submissions. But it's new and fairly raw.
The two modules do not integrate.

TM1 Workflow is a convoluted piece of junk, not even close to being worth the amount of time it takes to configure it.

It's fortunate that you two don't have avatars, or I know what would be appearing on the Workflow Development Team's dartboard this afternoon.tomok wrote:TM1 Workflow is a convoluted piece of junk, not even close to being worth the amount of time it takes to configure it.

(I haven't had the pleasure of using it, but I must confess that nothing I've heard about it has motivated me to change that.)

Hi All,
Thank you for the response.
Most Likely both the tools look like alerting systems, but TM1 contributor has extended features than that of Workflow.
Thank you all,
Radhika

Haven't used Contributor much past initial setup and config and whilst it seemed good it also seemed a bit restricted (eg one dimension for your work-flow hierarchy), tend to build in my own 'work-flow' like functionality that does what I need it to - that's the strength of TM1, its flexibility and the fact it allows you to manipulate its control objects in the way that workflow and contributor do (well actually contributor seems to get its own new set of control objects)tomok wrote:TM1 Workflow is a convoluted piece of junk, not even close to being worth the amount of time it takes to configure it.

Re: TM1 Workflow Vs TM1 Contributor
If I remember the 9.5.2 spiel correctly, Workflow will continue to be supported, but all future R&D will go into Contributor. So if you're starting from a clean slate then definitely go Contributor.
Please do not send technical questions via private message or email. Post them in the forum where you'll probably get a faster reply, and everyone can benefit from the answers.

Not even 9.5, Workflow is a integrated part of Version 10.1 & 10.2
