$ appended to .cub file

We have a cube that has two cub files
one with .cub$ and the other with .cub

Any ideas on what this is? Also, we appear to have data loss issues during server restarts. I ran a relative proportional spread during the day for a user at some point and after restart the spread was no longer there. I did a SaveDataAll before the restart as well.

I tried searching before I posted and using what you said and I get no matches found.

Is there a specific string that I should use?

Yes, unfortunately that one can be a bit tricky to search on because of the minimum character limitation in the search engine. This thread should tell you what you need:
