TM1Web & OLAPObjects 5.0

Fellow forum members:

I'm preparing to upgrade TM1 from 9.0 SP3 to 9.5.1. We have backed up the TM1 directory. I am reading the installation documentation (specifically page 24). In our current environment, we use OLAPObject Publisher 5.0, not TM1 Web. I want to double check if the TM1 Web component needs to be installed for the upgrade or not. I posed the same question to IBM via a PMR, and to be blunt, they were not very helpful. OLAPObjects is not an IBM product, so they had no idea what it was. The documentation states that TM1 Web is needed "to access TM1 servers and data using a web browser". IBM support suggested that I should install TM1Web, but I'm not so sure.

I took a look in the current TM1Web directory, and it appears that the majority of the files are OLAPObjects related files. I sent an e-mail to our VAR, but do not have a response yet.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe that Cognos/TM1 (prior to the IBM acquisition) provided the latest updates to OLAPObjects. I'm hoping that either OLAPObjects Publisher 5.0 is compatible with TM1 9.5.1, and/or that there is a new version out there (given that IBM does not own or support OLAPObjects, it would not be covered under our current contract).

Hi,

OLAPObjects and TM1 9.5 should work just fine together, and you do not need TM1 Web in order to run OLAPObjects, TM1 Server, or regular (Excel/Architect TM1 client) TM1 client. You only need TM1 Web to run TM1 Web (and, perhaps the new TM1 Contributor).

Applix/Cognos/IBM have never provided software updates for OLAPObjects; we have always provided that (formerly Creeth, Richman & Associates, now QueBIT).
