Maintain consolidations

Post by Jan »

Hello,

Isn't there a possibility to let the users maintain their consolidations to certain dimensions?
At the moment the only way is to give them admin access which means they can delete and messup everything, that is why until now, I am the only one who maintains the consolidations, I get mails every 2 days to add new consolidations and then I add them manually. I personally think this is not a task for tm1 admins, the users should do it without giving them the opportunity to messup the whole dimension.
the administration of tm1 is difficult for users, I don't even bother to explain it to the users because they can do so much wrong and eventually I have to repair it.
Currently we are on TM1 9.0 SP2 version, I don't know if this has changed in next releases?

Thanx in advance

You can create a 2 dimensional cubeview (or 3 dimensional if you want to add e.g. client dimension) in which the user can define the consolidation.
Then create a TI process based the this information.

From 9.1 the Action button gives you more option and you can format a nice interface in Excel for dimension maintenance.

Alternative approach: create a relational metadata repository (eg. an Access db with some tables) and ask users to maintain the information (hierarchies, attributes) in relational tables and update the dimension from there with TI. It is not difficult to export an existing dimension into a relational format so you can change the maintenance of an existing dimension as well.
