Installing Cognos TM1 9.5.1 in VM ware

We are planning to set up TM1 v 9.5.1 in Windows 2003 - 64bit OS running in a virtulaized environment, regarding this activity we have the below mentioned queries.

1)Can we install TM1 v9.5.1 in Windows 2003 - 64bit OS running in a virtulaized environment.

2)I have gone through http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... wg27018895, but it says VMWare ESX is compatible with TM1 v9.5.1. Can't we use any other VMWare otherthan ESX.

3)Assuming that we can install TM1 v9.5.1in virtualized environment,If there is an existing TM1 v9.1 in Windows 2003 - 64bit OS running in a physical server , can we upgrade from TM1 v9.1 to TM1 v9.5.1 in Windows 2003 - 64bit OS running in a virtulaized environment.

Yes you can use VMWare environment. But personally I would suggest you not do go to the Visualized environment for TM1 Production. The main reason is that TM1 is a hardware (RAM and processor) hungry application. If you search this forum you will find many post which will tell you to keep away from VM for Prod. don't take just a few instances or peoples perception of performance as gospel tho. we have used 32bit VMs for over 3 years and not had any issues at all. yes there are some extra configuration items for IT to think about but nothing that cannot be dealt with. we have little option as in the days of cost cutting VM is far cheaper than building a machine specifically for each application.

As you mentioned about configurations, are there any specific config TM1 settings that I need to consider for better performance of TM1 under VM ware.
