Contributor Approval Hierarchy restrictions

Why can't I use a approval hierarchy like this:

Product
Product A
Product B
Product C
Product C1
Product C2
Product D

What's preventing you? Is contributor stopping you? I've just created a ragged hierarchy in contributor and had no problems.

I am receiving the following error:
The hierarchy has more than one top level member.

Product
Product A
Product B
Product C
Product C1
Product C2
Product D
Product E
Product E1
Product E1A
Product F

I believe I have figured out the issue and fix.

I noticed that some of the members were part of an alternate hierarchy. After I removed the alternate hierarchy, I was able to use my approval hierarchy.

Now I am concerned if this is a known restriction where members can't be part of an alternate hierarchy.

As per my knowledge, TM1 Contributor supports only one approval hierarchy, as in Cognos Planning Contributor.
