Security Issues in 9.1

Post by imanminhas »

I recently rolled the month forward into April, to enable people to enter their April Forecasts (as they have always entered their forecasts in previous months) and refreshed the security.

When users go into a cube to enter their data, they are just seeing grey cells, instead of white. If they go to "edit status" in one of the cells they would normally write to, they get "cell is not editable - do not have write access to the element"

Although I have not changed any of the access rights for anyone, since this was last done, I thought I should check... Some of the elements needed to be changed to "Write" from "None" in the element security editor. I did this and then refreshed security again, then went back in to look and found that they had reverted back to "None".

What am I doing wrong???

You might want to check if you have a rule against the security control cube, this will override anything you do through the front end.

I think the problem is probably a security rule as Steve has suggested.

Do you have an SOP for "month end rollover"? More than likely there is a control cube which holds a string value for the current month and there is either an element security rule in your month dimension or a cell security rule which looks up that value and then applies the appropriate read/write permissions based on whether the month should be writeable or not.
