Hi,
I wonder if anyone tried to create an asymmetric view in TM1. Is it possible to create a view with Year and Scenario in columns so that Actual scenario corresponds to 2009 year and Plan scenario corresponds to 2010 year?
|2009 |2010 |
|Actual |Plan |
|_____|_____|

Asymmetric selection is possible in Excel or in Executive Viewer (and possibly many other front ends such as various C8 studios) but this is not possible in the TM1 cube browser.

Re: Asymmetric views in Cognos TM1
Just two small comments to that:
1. If I understand your purpose you want to show Acutals of year 2009 and enable to input Plan for year 2010. What I usually do in such a case is I create in Scenario dimension elements like: Actuals, Plan, Actuals LY (which stands for Last Year). Then in Rules Editor I define that "Actuals LY" for Year X+1 (e.g. 2010) equals "Actuals" for year X (e.g. 2009). This way I can show last year Actuals versus next year Plan in one view (in title dimensions I can set year to 2010).
2. You sometimes might have a view that seems to be asymetric by supressing zeroes (in your case on columns), but in this case you need to have 2009 Actuals and 2010 Plan already filled with data and 2009 Plan and 2010 Actuals empty - this way Cube Viewer will show you a result as it would be an "asymetric" view. As you probably have Plan for 2009 filled with data and Plan for 2010 empty it is not to be used in your case though.
