TM1 Loose files client install

Post by oudoyen »

Has anyone had any success doing the TM1 loose files client install? Specifically for TM1 9.4.

What do you mean by loose files?

Are you referring to the missing files for TM1Web?
Cheers!

"Loose files" means "shove the Client program files into a folder on either the user's computer or somewhere on the network (bypassing the setup program), and hope for the best". It's discussed (for an earlier version) here.

I haven't tried it with 9.4, and considering that I can't even get 9.0 SP3 to work properly with a loose files install I don't plan to try. Of course, that doesn't mean that it won't work, but I'd bet on there being better chances of success if the client has admin access to their machine.

Yes I have and yes it works. The problem with loose files are that if you want to push a silent install their folder might be in a different location when you go to update their client. I recommend getting a script to install the client on the users machines.

Have you previously done an install to get the various .ocx files registered, or was this a "cold" install on a machine that hasn't previously had TM1 on it?

Now that you mention that, all the users I have done a loose style on had a previous version of tm1 on it. I believe you might run into some .ocx issues. Good call man, you really know your stuff!

I was able to do a loose install of TM1 9.4 on a server that already had 8.4 (which first had to be upgrade to the 9.0s). I also remember having to register one of the .ocx files.
