Active Directory integrated login for TM1 contributor

Post by gnampoothiry »

Hi Gurus,

We need your help very urgently to setup integrated from Windows Active Directory for TM1 contributor for a customer.

The customer has only purchased TM1 license and does not have Cognos Configuration or Cognos Connection.

We have got the help to set up integrated log in for windows active directory for TM1 Architect, TM1 Perspective and TM1 web(since it is IIS).

However, for TM1 contributor which on Apache-Tomcat web server we have no idea how to setup integrated log in with active directory.

Also there is no help provided to set up integrated login for TM1 contributor.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Girish

TM1 Contributor does not support Integrated Login.

Do enable Integrated Login, in the TM1 server configuation file tm1s.cfg you must set the value of the parameter "IntegratedSecurityMode" to 2 (Mixed Mode) or 3 (Integrated Login).

But TM1 Contributor does support only the values 1 (TM1 Standard Authentication) or 5 (Cognos 8 Security) according to the manual TM1 9.5.2 Installation Guide:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocente ... _mode_N258
TM1 Installation 9.5.2
Installing TM1 Contributor >
Configuring Security Authentication for TM1 Contributor

You can use either TM1 standard security authentication or IBM Cognos 8 security for the TM1 servers you use with TM1 Contributor.

TM1 Contributor is compatible only with TM1 security authentication modes 1 and 5.

Thanks moby,

However, I've heard there is BI Lite version that I can download for free just to allow getting Cognos security into TM1.
I am waiting for Cognos support to confirm on that.

I have no clue what a BI Lite is supposed to be, but what you may have as part of your TM1 license contract is access to a BI Runtime environment.

Logon to the IBM software download portal and check what downloads are offered.

For instance there may be a TM1 9.5.2 Windows eAssembly like

IBM Cognos TM1 9.5.2 Windows Multilingual eAssembly (CRE15ML)

which includes some BI Runtime packages like

IBM Cognos 8 Runtime 64-bit 8.4.1 Windows Multilingual (CZH5NML)
IBM Cognos 8 Runtime 32-bit 8.4.1 Windows Multilingual (CZH5MML)
IBM Cognos Runtime 32-bit 10.1.0 Windows Multilingual (CZW0PML)
IBM Cognos Runtime 64-bit 10.1.0 Windows Multilingual (CZW0TML)

Thanks Moby,

You're absolutely right. BI Runtime is what one of the customer support referred as BI Lite.

It's running well now.

We've deployed Contributor via Tomcat, although there is an alternative to deploy it via Cognos BI Runtime. Do you know what would be recommended?

Our TM1 cube is now about 1,9 G - and tomcat has now running at 1 G. not sure whether this is tomcat issues and I should use BI Runtime instead?
