Installing TM1 9.5 on Windows Vista Business

Post by tkingcka »

Has anyone had any luck intalling version 9.5 on Windows Vista Business and if so, did you have to make any changes? I am in the process of trying to install the latest version on my laptop and am having some issues. Thanks for your assistance.

I assume you are installing TM1 server on Vista, right?

TM1 Server is not supported on Visa machine by Cognos. Only TM1 client is supported on Vista
Cheers!

Hello,

I use various TM1 versions (8.x, 9.x, including 9.5) on Vista Ultimate. Server, Client, Web work on it well.

One of my colleagues had issue with 9.1 TM1 installation on Vista Home and Business laptops at a client site some weeks ago.
Finally it was fixed by the IT of the client and as far as I know it was a security issue.
I will ask tomorrow.

One idea:
Try to install the TM1 not as a user from the Vista Admin Group but as Administrator user.
It is not activated by default but it's seemed to me that the Administrator is a kind of super Admin from Vista point of view.

Regards,
Peter

I dont remember which guide it was in, but IBM made a special note about Vista in the 9.4 docs. I think it was somewhat related the kpk's comment, but I know they specified something different about the Vista install. A quick search for "Vista" should return the IBM comment.

Thanks everyone for your responses, but I still haven't had any luck getting TM1 Web up and running as of yet. I will continue to work on it.

I am attempting to try to get TM1 Web to work on the VIsta environment and need to do the following:

Install IIS in Windows Features,
then enable .Net Framework.

Can anyone provide me with the steps to complete these tasks?

You help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried googling these? This is more about windows rather than TM1 and I know there are some decent guides for both of these steps out there,

Upgrade to Windows 7. You'll be glad to hear it's a lot easier.
