Why does the public view show different to other clients?
Hi,
I am the admin of TM1 in my company. I am asked to change one default value for one dimension of one public view. I have changed it and I can see the new value in the view. But the other client can't see the change. This public view still shows the old value in the dimension to the client.
Why does it happen?
Thanks in advance

Are you sure you haven't saved it as a private view with the same name?

Is this in Perspectives or TM1Web, or both? If it's Perspectives then the other client may have to restart Excel to see the changes.LP_user wrote:But the other client can't see the change.

Re: Why does the public view show different to other clients
This maybe related to the users security, when you save a view it saves the an index rather than the name of the element.
So if you fix a page dimension to the first element you see the user will get the first element they see in the dimension. Depending on the security of the user your first elements might not be the same...

Re: Why does the public view show different to other clients
Hi Steve,
You are right. When I change and save a view. And login with the other user, who has also admin privilege, then the change made before can be seen. But if login with the user, who has different privilege, the change can not be seen.
How to make other user have the same index as mine for one dimension? So that when this dimension in one public view has been changed, every one can see the same result.
With best regards,

Unless I am missing something, the thing is that certain users do not have enough rights to certain elements.LP_user wrote:How to make other user have the same index as mine for one dimension? So that when this dimension in one public view has been changed, every one can see the same result.
With best regards,
Hence, they will not see them, however you reorder your dimension and set its indexes.

Hi Wim,
The original post is about one public view. Only admin can modify it. Other use can only read it.
How to set other user groups have the same index for one dimension as the admin group?
With best regards

Re: Why does the public view show different to other clients
Hi all,
I checked the public view again. I found the dimension that I want to change has the same index for admin group and other group. Say the dimension is "year". I want to set the default value for "year" of the public view as "2013". The "2013" has "8" as index in "year" dimension. If I login as other user, it also show "8" as index for "2013" in "year" dimension.
However, the public view shows "year:standard" for admin group when hover mouse above "year" dimension, but shows "year:(Unnamed)" for other user group. I assume it might be the reason why the public view shows different to other user as to me. Could someone please help me, how to set the public view, "year" dimension to "year:standard" for other group?
With best regards

Re: Why does the public view show different to other clients
Good news. The problem has been resolved. The root cause is that there is one new element in "year" dimension, which is not assigned access privilege to any group. It means that only admin can see this new "year" element. The trick is that this new element is not what I want to assign to the public view. It is pretty confused. But when I assign this new element to all groups, the user can see the changed public view.

Re: Why does the public view show different to other clients
I think this is pretty much explained by exactly what Steve and Wim already told you.
- title elements are set by index not element name
- user groups may not have access to all the same elements as admin
- therefore the same index value will resolve to a different element name for end user as opposed to admin

And in this case index does not mean index of element in dimension (probably this confused LP_user) but index (position) of element in subset that was set for a dimension used in title for a view.lotsaram wrote: - title elements are set by index not element name
