Along with the TM1 Rules engine, TI is one of the most fundamental building blocks of model and systems development in TM1.

• What TI processes can do.

• Applicability of TI in model development.
• Best practise on good TI programming.

Last User Group
Thanks heaps to IBM for providing pizza and the venue for our last user group.
If you remember David presented on using Cognos BI tools to present TM1 data, here are some follow up points from David:
Support for TM1 Subsets in a Cognos reporting package.
Syntax ErrorIt has been confirmed to me that subsets are not supported through the Framework Manager process. The suggested approach for equivalent(?) functionality is to use alternative hierarchies. Alternative hierarchies will be presented to report authors via the package. Should the elements of the hierarchy change (eg the elements are determined dynamically), the Framework Manager package will accommodate that without needing to be refreshed.
Reporting Cubes and BII now also understand the cause of the syntax error I had when creating the list report. I had inadvertently selected the members rather than the metadata when defining my selection.
Other User Groups InvitesIt is good practice to build read only reporting cubes.
Those cubes should only contain data ready for consumption with the appropriate dimensions for use in BI. e.g. the planning model may have a dimension for say Entity in it with multiple roll-ups (legal, management, functional) but the reporting cube should use another version of that dimension with only one roll-up, potentially flattened for use in BI. Report authors can create sets and subsets through MDX functions when designing a Cognos report but these are within the context of the report rather than the TM1 cube.
IBM Information on Demand

Dear All,
Thanks for those that attended today.
Gareth’s dependency checker is here: http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=37035
As Louise pointed out Cortell’s QUBEdocs would provide something similar if you have it.

Microsoft Visual Basic Automation Error or Unspecified Error

I found that although I had the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable installed
I needed the SP1 version

Re: Wellington IBM Cognos TM1 User Group
Dear All,
Just some follow-up from our meeting last week.
Great feedback for both speakers – all ratings were good or excellent.
One suggestion was to include hand-outs as the projector can be hard to read. (Good idea for future speakers)
No volunteers to run the group going forward, if you want to do this please get in touch.
Attached are Martins notes. Below is some follow up to questions we had for David.
Hope you have an excellent Christmas (don’t forget the reason for the season)
James
1. What is happening to Cognos Express Advisor/Planner/Xcelerator licences?
I would recommend that readers contact their reseller for advice relating to their specific licence entitlement.
The following two documents are relevant to the situation:
IBM License Information document
http://www-03.ibm.com/software/sla/slad ... 050073F002
Software withdrawal: IBM Cognos Express - Some replacements available
http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bi ... ppname=USN
In combination, they indicate that:
Cognos Express Planner (Connector and User) has become Cognos Express Performance Manager (Connector and User)
Cognos Express Xcelerator (Connector and User) has become Cognos Express Performance Manager (Connector and User)
Cognos Express Advisor (Connector and User) will be withdrawn from marketing on Feb 12, 2014 for new licences and from March 14, 2014 for renewals.
IBM software products are supported for 5 years after the release plus an additional 3 years of extended warranty that can be purchased. The Advisor component of Express will adhere to this policy
2. What is the URL for the "What's new in TM1 10.2?" document I referenced?
IBM Cognos Open Mic - TM1 10.2 New Features
Part 1 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... 2322&aid=1
Part 2 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... 3351&aid=1
