With the arrival of Cognos Express 10.1, I have taken the opportunity to avoid the world of pain that is installing and configuring BI, and (I thought) go straight to setting up a set of slick, visual Active Reports running against TM1. Results have been 'variable'....
Getting output through to an AR report, and to an MHT file, is fine. But (of course) the point of Active Reports is interactivity. I have ground through the 'Active Reports Cookbook' trying to apply the techniques to a TM1 data source, but so far without success - the techniques (Data Buttons, Data Decks etc) don't seem to port to a TM1 connection in a way that actually works.
I think the issue may relate less to ARs than to the implicit relational assumptions of the writer of the cookbook.
I'd like to hear if others have had more success, and if so, what they had to do to get interactivity working.
Active Reports against TM1/ICAS?

Re: Active Reports against TM1/ICAS?
TM1 is simply an olap style data source. The issue is probably less about TM1 as a datasrouce and more about using a dimensional model for your Active Reports.
We have built active reports from packages that use TM1, Powercubes, Relational Databases ETC.
Is there a specific problem you are having? Are you familiar with dimensional functions? (sets, filters, descendants, etc)

Re: Active Reports against TM1/ICAS?
I've done a reasonable amount of MDX, though I'll freely admit that I don't have deep knowledge of Report Studio. My focus, here, is on the interactivity aspects of Active Reports, Data Buttons, Data Decks etc. Customers and prospects want, I believe, to be able to 'page' through data in an AR. I'm aware that since the data is within the MHT file, the 'paging' needs to be simulated. The Cookbook sets out how, using relational sources, and I am finding the techniques in the Cookbook not to work against a TM1 cube defined as a data source.
