Installing TM1 v9.5

Post by Radhika »

Hi All,

I have installed TM1 v9.5, installation was successful. While installion I have opted for Planning Sample. But when compared to the services created in TM1 v9.5 to that of TM1 v9.4, apart from TM1 Admin Server, TM1 Excel Service, TM1 Server/ Planning Sample, I see one more service called "TM1 Server" in v9.5. This service TM1 Server is not found in TM1 v9.4.

Anyone please let me know what is the significance of the service (TM1 Server ). Eventhough if I unistall TM1 v9.4 this service is still listed in services.msc, rest all services like TM1 Admin Server, TM1 Excel Service are removed on its own while unistallation but why not service "TM1 Server".

Thanks & Regards,
Radhika

Most likely you at installation 9.5 have made one more service by default

Any service named "TM1 Server" is exactly that; a TM1 server. That is, the executable which loads cube and dimension data into memory, registers itself with the Admin Server so that clients can see it, allows users to log in and to query that data, write data to the cubes and so on. If you uninstall TM1 the uninstall package will generally (if I recall correctly) remove any TM1 Server services that it added itself. (Not sure whether it will uninstall "Custom" servers created at installation.) However it certainly won't remove any services that have been installed manually using the tm1sd.exe -install command; those have to be removed manually.

This is discussed further in this thread.
