TM1 Recommended Practices Repository: does it still exist?

Post by John Hammond »

Eldorado was a city in the Amazon jungle made of pure gold. The trouble was no-one could find it and many died on a pointless quest.

The old Applix TM1 manual reveals a potential Goldmine: the TM1 Recommended Practices Repository

TM1 Recommended Practices Repository
The TM1 Recommended Practices Repository contains articles and tips for optimizing your TM1 data models, written by Applix field personnel who practice the craft every day around the world. This information extends and complements the Applix TM1 documentation set.
The Recommended Practices site is organized in three major sections:
• TM1 Internals describes how to tune your TM1 Server for optimum performance. These articles, many of which were written by TM1 lead architect Manny Perez, describe how TM1 stores, moves, and manipulates your data behind the scenes. The articles also provide tips for taking advantage of many of the lesser-known features of TM1.

• TM1 Application Development discusses some powerful techniques for building robust applications that access and publish your TM1 data.

• TM1 Installation Issues provides tips for installing and upgrading TM1.

To view the TM1 Recommended Practices Repository, please visit

I tried the link and was re-directed to IBM's promo-spiel for CIO's.

Is there an Indiana Jones out there who has been able to hunt down the fabled URL of where this cache of glistening information resides?

{Cough} Yes, I believe that Indiana Jones these days goes under the name of the FAQ thread.
Misc Documentation
Ever wonder where the documents from the old Applix "Center of Excellence" which was succeeded by the Cognos "Proven Practices" site went to? Apparently it's an IBM site called DeveloperWorks.
(From the IBM Support Links section.)

Is there a particular article in DeveloperWorks that contains these recommended practices?

There was never just one article. Filter by the Cognos TM1 product and you'll get a list of (at the time of writing) 24 documents. Some are a Cognos-era compilation of earlier Applix documents; the Server Administration .pdf appears to be an example of this. Just browse through until you find whatever article piques your interest.
