Hello,
I am trying to install Cognos Express 9.0 (9.0.20090824-1704) on Windows Server 2003 R2 64bit SP1.
After successfull installation I run Cognos Manager and tried to install Xcelerator. In Cognos Event everything it seemed to be fine. Xcelerator Core, Server and Client was successfully installed. So it's time to run Xcelerator form Excel because I want to design some Cubes. I run Excel 2003 and there was no option(or icon) to run Xcelerator. Xcelerator was no integrated to Excel ? I thing, it was. So I tried to install Xcelerator Client x86 seperatly, from installation directory I run setup and following error has occured in log file.
Environemnet details:
Windows Server 2003 R2 64bit SP1
IIS 6.0
.NET 3.0 64bit
.NET 2.0 64Bit
Excel Prof. 2003
Any ideas please ?
Thanks a lot

Re: Cognos Express 9.0
You need to navigate to the server URL
http://express_server_name:19300/cognos_express/manager/welcome.html
To download and install the Xelerator Client (TM1 client).
I would think manually installing a client should be fine but I never get to try it. "Follow" the express manual and it should work. At least for me.

Yes, I done the same. I run Cognos Manager (it means http://localhost...) and from that environment I installed Xcelerator as I wrote in previous post.
Very shortly I tried it twice:
1. Installation was from Cognos Manager
2. Manualy from installation folder

Re: Cognos Express 9.0
Apparently the Xcelerator add-in is not automatically loaded into Excel. Is there a Cognos (x86) programs group created in the start menu? If so, does this contain a link to Xcelerator client?
I think the Xcelerator client is still called tm1p.xla - did you try to search this file on your machine? If found, does opening this file start Xcelerator client?

No, it isn't :/
I checked this way, because in TM1 it was enough to click on *.xla file and add-in was installed to Excel. But there is no *.xla file on filesystem after installation.I think the Xcelerator client is still called tm1p.xla - did you try to search this file on your machine? Re: Cognos Express 9.0
So I wrote to IBM support, well I'll see. I will let you know about this "misunderstanding " in new IBM product. Solution will be posted.
