why not an Asia Pacific server?
There ain't one, not on my downloads page anyway. The default is US, the only other option on the drop down is Ireland. I was hoping that the latter may yield better speed just on the basis that most people would be using the default. "Better" in my case did not mean "good", unfortunately.

And even if there was an A-P one it'd probably be run out of Customer Care in Singapore. Don't get me started on the subject of Customer "Care" in Singapore...

1 file down.

2 to go for now.

sitting around 130 kbs then drops down to 60 or 70 kbs...then back up... then down....
Well at least you're getting there. Happy hunting.

I'll see whether I have mine in the early hours of tomorrow.

- URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss? ... RXT&mync=E
- ABSTRACT: A comprehensive list of defect corrections for major releases, refresh packs and fix packs of Cognos TM1 10.1. If you have questions about a particular defect, please contact Customer Support. Note: A particular list may contain a combination of APAR references and internal defect numbers. This was necessitated to provide a complete list of corrected defects as we continue to transition our internal defects to APARs. Items with a PK or PM reference are APARs and are searchable on IBM.COM. If you...

Equally, unless stated, IBM Cognos presumes that the 3rd party product has not been configured to disable new features (compatibility modes) and that all patches/service packs are upward compatible for our products from the versions stated. As noted in earlier posts, four of the links on the Documentation Downloads page yield 1kb document files which have a .pdf extension but are in fact HTML documents saying that the file isn't there. The offending titles are:
- TM1 Release Notes
- TM1 Performance Modeler
- TM1 Getting Started Installation and
- TM1 Installation and Configuration

Yes, you can view all of these through the online documentation but let's face it, with the installation guide in particular you want something a little more "linear" than a web document. Not to mention more readily searchable as part of a total library.

I've therefore raised SR 25894 999 616:
On your documentation page (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... RXT&mync=E) there are four documents still missing. One of them is the installation guide, and a web based copy of an installation guide is NOT helpful. Another is the Release Notes. Please supply them and arrange for them to be added to the download site.

From your site:
The requested URL /software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.1.0/tm1/tm1_rdm.pdf was not found on this server.

The requested URL /software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.1.0/tm1/tm1_gs_install.pdf was not found on this server.

The requested URL /software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.1.0/tm1/tm1_install.pdf was not found on this server.

The requested URL /software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.1.0/tm1/prfmd_ug.pdf was not found on this server.
As an aside, does anyone who doesn't raise SRs every day ever remember what IBM's idea of Severity Levels 1 through 4 are without hitting the link that tells you? I also love the little pop-up that now appears at the end with a check-box asking me whether I'm "also" prepared to work in English. Ah... the form is in English. The account is based in Australia. What, exactly, were they expecting me to speak, Kangaroo?

{Phone rings...} Pronto? IBM? Mi dispiace, ma non parlo inglese...

As far as I remember 1 is 'the sh1t hit the fan and nobody can work any more' and 2-4 is 'you can forget about the fact that I have raised this SR'.

I'm in the US, so I know my mileage may vary from you guys in Asia/Pacific, but I didn't have any problems downloading once I gave up the html download and went with the Download Director. All you have to do is allow javascript for it to work properly, at least in my case. It also only took a few hours to get the 32 and 64 server and client packages, I'll download the rest later when all the excitement wears off.

I'm downloading now in mainland EU via IE with download director using about 4 connections on average and the total download time has remained consistent at around 1.5 hours so all good so far. (Ignoring the non windows platforms got the total package size down from 15 GB to a "more manageable" 9.5 GB. That's still one helluva lot of bloat due to multi-lingual support junk. I mean seriously what's wrong with being able to select language options upfront for the download?)

Will see how the unpacking goes. and then the installation ....

The pdf download links are working now - but the release notes disappeared from the list.

Not mine. DD will crash IE, both 6 (which we previously had) and 8 (which we do now). Guaranteed, and on any computer I've tried it on here. (I've used it from home before, but that was for WAY smaller packages. If I tried to download the thing at my home speed I'd probably get a pop-up advising me that "TM1 Version 11 is now available!" before I finished.)

Javascript is enabled; in fact there's a group policy that prevents us from disabling it to ensure that certain internal apps run. (Which means that I do most browsing from my own machine, given that some sites with useful content have a useless design where Javascript's effect is more virus (not in a malware way, just a "really bad design" way) than content provider. On Firefox I have Web Developer which lets me toggle Javascript when I feel like it.)

Took me about 9.5 hours to get the 2 Gig 32 bit package.

Yup, got 'em. The lack of release notes doesn't surprise me; a lot of the NFG reads like release notes anyway. The only thing really missing from it is the bug fixes list, which is on the web but minimally useful given the brevity of a lot of the descriptions. (If, indeed, "description" is a valid word in this case.) It was really the install guide that I wanted; I just find it a lot easier to have a hard copy of it that I can follow and flip around in. Mind you, I wasn't counting on it being almost 300 pages.

Still, we're fortunate to have one at all; it seems that it hasn't been translated to all languages. I took a look to see whether the Italian one was there yesterday since I could have used that, but nope, there wasn't (and at the time of writing still isn't) one there.

The problem i have with DD is its a plugin. Any corporate network that cares about its security will block any sort of web plugins hence why its useless to me. It does work from home although popup blocking on chrome makes it a tad awkward too, but usable none the less.

Didn't have any issues with the HTTP method from work tho, grabbing from the Ireland mirror took a little more than an hour. Certainly suggest to anyone doing that to save it to a local drive and not network tho. I've found our network tends to reject or corrupt large downloads.
